Dryer Q&A

Dryer Q&A

Q: How long does it take to install a Rinnai gas dryer?
A: We have installed more than 1,000 units, so we have extensive installation experience; installation is usually completed within about 1 to 1.5 hours.

Q: Can we buy a Rinnai dryer ourselves and then ask you to install it?
A: No. We quote our dryers as a package including the unit, labour and basic installation, which keeps the price lower, just as water heaters are always quoted with labour and materials included. If we only installed the hardware brackets without the dryer, the cost would be much higher; if you buy the unit yourself and have someone else install it, the overall cost will be higher still, and no shop is willing to take on that kind of job. If a problem arises, the parties can easily pass the buck to each other, harming your interests, and if the machine is defective, a second visit will be charged separately. So having us handle everything is more economical, neater, faster and risk-free for the customer. And because we are a Rinnai dealer, we can also extend the warranty by an extra year. A package of unit plus installation actually saves you money, time and risk, so you can rest assured.

Q: What is the main purpose of the Rinnai gas dryer's shoe-drying rack, and how is it installed?

A: The shoe-drying rack is a simple metal rack whose main purpose is to let you dry items that should not tumble, such as shoes, helmets, dolls and toys. Drying shoes sterilizes, fights bacteria, deodorizes and inhibits bacterial growth, so they feel dry and comfortable to wear and your feet stay healthier. Using it is as easy as steaming buns or zongzi: just put the rack in. No tools are needed; simply place it inside and it is ready to use, very convenient.

Q: What are the advantages of the wall-mounted bracket Hongchi developed specifically for Rinnai gas dryers?
A: 1 Saves space and does not enclose the washing machine, for total peace of mind   2 No matter how tall your washing machine is, the wall bracket can be installed to suit the site  3 Unique design and installation method that does not damage the wall tiles  4 Stays firm and steady during earthquakes for maximum safety  5 Can sit completely flush against the back wall to save the most space, and can be pulled out 1~6 cm from the wall at any time if needed for great flexibility   6 Specially designed front edge sits 2~3cm further back than the dryer so you won't bump your head   7 Not an air-conditioner bracket or angle-steel assembly; the bottom saves a great deal of space and only needs to clear the washing machine lid by 3mm or more ,for better use of space

Q: If we use Rinnai's original floor stand, can Hongchi install it too?
A: Yes. We are an authorized Rinnai dealer and can certainly install the original floor stand for you without any problem. If our assessment shows the original floor stand is the most suitable option, we will make sure it is installed smoothly.

Q: Won't drilling into the wall cause leaks or hit water pipes or electrical conduits?
A: No. You can entrust the installation to us with complete confidence. We have been in plumbing and electrical renovation for nearly 30 years, with extensive experience in piping installation, and we know where pipes are buried and how deep. On top of that, we have installed more than 1,000 Rinnai gas dryers, so we have a wealth of installation experience. There is no need to worry at all; just leave the installation to us.

Q: I heard that after a meter change, gas pipe modifications must be done by the gas company. Is that true? Or can you do them as well?
A: You can have the gas pipe modified directly by the gas company, or we can do it for you. The advantages of having us do it are speed, accurate positioning and reasonable cost.

Q: Do I need a larger gas meter to install a Rinnai gas dryer?
A: No. Rinnai gas dryers use very little gas: only 1/7 of a typical 16L water heater and 1/2 of a two-burner gas stove, and drying times are short. There is no need for a larger gas meter; your existing gas meter is enough

Q: 486 published an article saying gas dryers cause fires. Is that true?
A: The purpose of 486's article is obvious: to steer consumers toward “heat pump dryers”, since 486 itself does not sell gas dryers.

We left comments several times to clarify the facts, but they were simply deleted and ignored, so we chose to publish a full explanation on our official website so consumers can make an informed judgement. For the full article, please click the link……

Q: The installation location has a water heater, windows, pipes, beams and columns, sockets, a clothes-drying rack and so on. Can it still be installed?
A: With our many years of installation experience, we can install in almost any situation, and we can make it look great. Just send us photos of the site, and we will propose a workable solution, discuss it with you by phone, and then come to your home to install it

Q: Online comments say Hongchi's Rinnai gas dryer installations are the neatest, most space-saving and wobble-free, and that no site survey is needed: you can install it on the spot. Is that true?
A: That is indeed the case. After installation, it will save even more space and look even better than you expect, and you won't be able to resist recommending us to friends and family, because it is just so practical, and it was installed so nicely, so space-efficiently and so safely without even needing a site survey.

Q: Can we install the Rinnai gas dryer on the bay window next to the washing machine?
A: Yes. We have a unique installation method that supports it on the bay window, with anti-vibration treatment so no noise is produced; it is earthquake-resistant, load-bearing and still looks good. If you want to save space, the best position is above the washing machine, because the window area can still be used to store detergents or less frequently used items.

Q: Does a Rinnai gas dryer need an exhaust duct?
A: The machine comes with an elbow but no exhaust duct. If the balcony is enclosed with windows, we recommend fitting an exhaust duct to vent outside.

Q: What is the difference between a Rinnai gas dryer with and without an exhaust duct?
A: With an exhaust duct: it is quieter, the balcony does not get as hot, there is less humidity, and trace amounts of carbon monoxide are also vented out.  In a fully open space, the exhaust elbow can vent directly outside, so an exhaust duct is not needed.
